It wasn’t your ordinary dinner night out. In fact, it was rather life-changing for one father of four.
During an evening in January 2013 at a restaurant in St. Louis, Missouri, John Martin was about to enjoy his plate of pasta with fellow Vi Promoters, Dan and Amber Mount, when a specific sentence stopped him mid fork. “You are going to die if you don’t do something about your weight,” Dan told him. John was 310 lbs. And, it was that moment when John decided to begin Day 1 of a new—and healthier—lifestyle.

It was the many days leading up to that moment that helped inspire John’s need for change. One year earlier, John was introduced to Vi by a buddy. At the time, John was the CEO of a successful Internet radio station and was looking to build a secondary revenue stream. It was perfect timing. “Since I was already working full-time, I decided to spend an hour a day working on promoting the Body by Vi Challenge,” John says. “I signed up six people in the first week and earned a BMW in only 31 days.”
But then unfortunate circumstance soon followed when John began losing some of his radio company’s shareholders, creating a type of domino effect on his finances, his family…and his health. “This multi-million-dollar business I had worked so hard to build was in such a bad state, the stress was killing me,” he says.
The Power of One’s WHY
In March 2013, after losing his house, John finally walked away from his internet radio business and focused on promoting The Challenge full-time. “Already successful as Vi Promoters, Dr. Paul and Mysti Wehrum reached out to me and started helping me build a strong team,” he says. “They are responsible for helping me stick with this business. If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t be here today.”
Paul and Mysti were also sitting at the same restaurant table that particular night when John decided he needed to lose weight—and when he discovered his first WHY.
“I made sure to wear my ‘Why’ when I shot my ‘i WANT it’ video; it was a ‘World’s Greatest Dad’ t-shirt my youngest son had given to me as a present,” he says. “But, the sad thing was… I was not the world’s greatest dad then. I had spent the past years buried in my internet radio business, completely consumed. I had missed many of those special years as my four children were growing up—years that go by so quickly and you never get back. And, I had allowed myself (and other family members) to get to a very unhealthy weight.”
Health Becomes Contagious
John would finally live The Challenge that he had been promoting to so many others. Multiple Challenges later, he lost over 100 lbs.* It’s when he realized his other ‘Why.’ “Seeing the positive effects of my weight loss, I made sure to have a second ‘Why’ and recommit to inspiring others to improve their life—whether it be financially or physically.”
John’s children are examples of that decision, for his family all took on The Challenge and has lost a combined total of 350 lbs.
Today, after a rocky two years, John is now laser-focused on building his business and achieving the Ambassador rank by Vi’s next national event: Vitality Houston 2014. “My business has already grown 100% this past month,” he says.

Every now and then John makes sure to remind himself of his commitment to the Vi mission of improving life, health and prosperity.
“I wore that same ‘World’s Greatest Dad’ shirt for my ‘i LOST it’ video,” he says. “Of course, it’s five times too big for me now, and that’s completely fine with me. It’s a happy reminder that I’m now able to spend time with my children as much as I want. I’m able to be an example of health. I’m able to have so much more fun with my family. And, I’m able to share clothes with my 18-year-old son.”
For John, being the ‘World’s Greatest Dad’ is no longer a mere phrase on a t-shirt. It has become his new identity—and he wears that truth most proudly.

UK Woman Goes from Late-Night Cravings to Losing Over 50 lbs. on The Challenge

Many of us, at one point or another, have had to resist raiding the fridge or pantry to satisfy our late-night cravings. For Amy Andrew, from Ely, Cambridgeshire, it was a constant battle that often resulted in her indulging in carbs, sugary snacks and high-calorie beer.
“I can’t remember how long my weight has been an issue—it seems like my whole life,” admitted the 23-year-old. “At the end of the day, I loved food and I would eat anything without really thinking about it.”
Although she found comfort in food, she was extremely uncomfortable with her body—avoiding shopping and feeling self-conscious about the way clothes fit on her.
Frustrated with failed diets and feeling frumpy, she decided to make a real change and take on the 90-Day Challenge. She drank two Vi-Shape® Shakes a day and snacked on Nutra-Cookies whenever she felt like “indulging.”

Vi Germany’s First Ambassador Ralf Schönwerth: “Vi gives people the chance to make their dreams come alive”
As Vi expands its global footprint, inspiring success stories are already emerging throughout the newest European markets. Just last month, Vi welcomed its first-ever German Ambassador: Ralf Schönwerth.
Ralf, one of Germany’s most successful networkers since 1999, sees it as his duty to help others improve their lives and grow personally. He regards the PROJECT 10™ Challenge as a chance to help many others move forward. When Ralf Schönwerth first heard about Vi Austria and Vi Germany, he knew that The Challenge was a completely new system.
