The holidays may soon be over but the winter chill is here to stay in most places. Here’s a recipe that’s perfect on a cold day and makes good use of your leftover pumpkin pie ingredients: a spiced protein pumpkin bread studded with chocolate chips.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 ¾ cup white unbleached flour
  • ¼ cup Vi-Shape® Shake
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup cane sugar
  • ¾ (15 oz) can of pumpkin pie purée (about 1 ½ cups)
  • ½ cup melted coconut oil
  • ¼ cup coconut milk
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mix dry ingredients (first 5) separate from wet ingredients
  2. Mix everything together, and then fold in chocolate chips
  3. Pour into loaf pan lined with parchment paper
  4. Bake at 350° for one hour (covering with aluminum foil halfway through to avoid over-browned top)

Makes about 8-10 servings depending on thickness of slices

It’s hard to believe that it was just on October 31, 2014 that Sergeant Major Paul Archie, now a Regional Director, joined Vi. In just 32 days, he went from Associate to Regional Director and qualified for his BMW. It was both “amazing and humbling,” said Paul.

Vi Regional Director & Sergeant Major Paul ArchieU.S. Marine Corps Service

After 26 years of U.S. Marine Corps service, the highly decorated marine with active combat duties in Iraq and Afghanistan, brought his leadership skills and experience to Vi. When asked about his decision to become a Promoter, Paul said, “It was a great opportunity to help people transform their health, and to earn extra income for my family.”

For the past 16 years, Paul served in the highest enlisted leadership billets in the Marine Corps including Sergeant Major for the 2nd Marine Regiment as well as Sergeant Major of MCRD/ERR Parris Island, which finds and trains future Marines. His expertise ranged from advising officers and Generals on all matters, to training and mentoring new enlistees, to team-oriented leadership in combat and peacetime operations. He was also awarded the Bronze Star, the nation’s fourth highest award for combat valor.

It’s no surprise, then, that with Paul’s diverse background and distinguished leadership, he made a smooth and successful transition into Vi.

Challenge Results

Paul’s success as a Promoter goes hand in hand with his early success on The Challenge. He has already lost 10 lbs. and is currently working on building lean muscle. “Now the bulking up of my muscles is what I am working on. It’s going great so far and I am excited to show people the results,” said Paul.

Key Players

Paul credits his early success to Vi Director Charles Schmid and 3-Star Ambassador Jordan Delacruz. “Jordan never sleeps. He is a leader that lives, breathes, eats, promotes and is Vi! He’s an awesome leader,” said Paul.

But when it comes to Paul’s ‘WHY’—his source of motivation, he said, “My dad, my wife and God inspire me the most. There are many others, but these three keep me going and striving to be an example to all including my kids!”

Parallels in Leadership

When asked about the parallels between Marine Corps leadership and Vi leadership, Paul said, “ViSalus is just like the USMC! You have to lead, follow, demonstrate with your own example, and CARE about your people! You have to lead your leaders just like the USMC does!”

Persistence Pays

As someone who has spent years mentoring and training others, Paul was eager to share his advice to other Promoters looking to rise the ranks:

“Be consistent, persistent and never give up! Stay positive, keep watering your seeds and they will blossom when you least expect it! Some of my people said no initially, and then a month later, they said yes! Also, follow the system and keep your activity up! HAVE FUN AND BE ENERGETIC!!!!!!”

Damien Canerot was first introduced to Nick Sarnicola and Blake Mallen when he was a student in college. That’s also when he attended his first National event—almost a decade ago.

Years of loyal perseverance have gotten him to where he is today—a thriving 1-Star Ambassador worth over $500K, living in California’s Bay Area. Here are 14 of our favorite Damien Canerot quotes… dare we say many of which are words to live by.

  1. It’s been special to see the evolution of ViSalus over the years, from very modest beginnings to everything we’ve now established as a Challenge culture.
  2. I made the decision to go for it. I admit to achieving slower success as a first-time Promoter, but I had the opportunity to be mentored and surrounded by aspiring entrepreneurs.
  3. I’ve faced challenges and success as a Promoter over the last decade. It’s been both rewarding and humbling at the same time.
  4. The Vi-Life has been rewarding to say the least. I’ve traveled to many new cities across the country, taken cruises, and had countless celebrations.
  5. Vi provides a big gift people don’t always talk about: an atmosphere for personal growth and development.
  6. My advice for anyone looking to achieve success in any area of life is to be clear about what you want.
  7. Know that some people will always grow quicker than you. Some people will doubt you. And you will experience challenges. But if you want it bad enough, always surround yourself with others who believe in you. The rest will take care of itself.
  8. The person you become through a challenge, when times get tough and you don’t quit, is in itself a great gift!
  9. I strongly believe Vi and its mission will become a movement—with an impact that ripples for generations to come.
  10. I’m most excited for the new Promoter—the one who comes into this business with big dreams and goals, who is committed to the long-term and to mastering the Vi process.
  11. All Promoters, especially new ones, need to know how much opportunity and room there is at the top for those who have the ambition and desire to create a winning team.
  12. ViSalus is making a massive impact—not only with the state of millions of peoples’ health, but also in educating and equipping the masses with tools and skills to live more enriched lives.
  13. My five-year vision for my team is to expand into new countries with the best of friends, living out many life dreams and experiences.
  14. I believe now is the time some will begin building a legacy for their families… and why not be part of that growth? I’m excited for 2015.

Results not typical. Achievement in rank depends upon many factors such as hard work, determination, financial resources and social contacts, if you are prepared to learn and put yourself to work anything is possible, email RichardHowlett@sky.com or visit http://www.giftofhealth.co.uk

In the Spirit of the Holiday Season: A Vi Promoter’s Story of Service—and What He Learned

Happy holidays to you and yours! Today we want to bring you a story that reflects the spirit of the season: bringing joy to others through random acts of giving—whether it’s love, kindness or attention.

We’re proud of the many ways the Vi Community represents the spirit of giving year-round. Inspired by Vi’s commitment to Life, Health and Prosperity, Regional Director Brett Andrews felt compelled to serve locally—and shared with us his experience about the lesson learned.

***** The following is Brett’s story in his own words*****

What a Homeless Man Taught Me about Prosperity

“Excuse me, sir. Could you get me some food? I haven’t eaten in three days.”

James, a man who’d been on the streets for three months, called out to me from his bench as I went on a late-night walk. As I looked him over—pleading eyes, filthy clothes, gaping wound in his knee—I took action. “Sure,” I told him. “Wait right here, and I’ll get you something at the Western supermarket right over there.”

As I went back to the supermarket to get him a sandwich, I thought about Vi’s core values: Life, Health, Prosperity. Prosperity, in particular, reminds me of the opportunity to become more philanthropic: do what you can, when you can, with what you have. With that value in mind, I swept through the store, stocking up on all manner of food and treats that this man could want. Anything from apples and oranges to peroxide and bandages went in the basket. When a clerk found out what I was doing and asked why, the answer was simple: “Because I can.” What more reason did I need to serve someone else?

When I returned with this oversized bag of supplies, I could tell that James had gotten more than he hoped for. As I knelt to clean his bleeding knee—he’d fallen three days earlier—he wept with gratitude at the act of service. I told him that my good friend Jeremy had once been homeless and recovered, thanks to the generosity of others. I told him that, were it not for my family stepping in at the right time in my life, I would have been in his position, too.

James taught me last night that prosperity goes beyond the big paycheck and company car. Prosperity starts when you give freely of what you have to someone who has nothing. I seized that opportunity to serve him last night because I could.

I challenge you to do the same. The next time that you see a homeless person who asks for food or a dollar, give it to them. Do it because you can. Embrace prosperity, and be the example that leads others to do the same.

Brett
